How do people endure and adapt to the harsh cold in Siberia?

The rules of survival are simple:

1. Dress according to the weather. If it's warm outside, dressing is easy. If it is cold outside - dress warmly, in 3 layers of clothing (cotton clothing + wool clothing + warm outerwear)

2. Move a lot on the street. It’s not your clothes that warm you, but the heat that muscles produce when you move.

3. Do not drink alcohol and sedatives, which reduce the sensitivity of the skin and constrict blood vessels. Drinking alcohol, you must be inside a warm room, you can not go outside. You will not be able to adequately perceive the temperature and evaluate your condition. This is deadly dangerous.

4. Going on a long journey by transport, make sure that the car is in good technical condition. Let your family and friends know your route and time for follow-up phone calls. Check the battery level in the phone. Take food and hot drink, an ax, matches with you. If your car breaks down on the road, you can light a fire and bask near it, waiting for help. Your relatives will report you to the rescue service when you do not get in touch. You will be found and saved. In general, in Russia in severe frosts on the roads rescue vehicles are on duty. They drive through the main roads every 3 hours and help everyone who is in trouble and who has a broken car.

5. If you are tired in the cold, you should still move. You must not sit and sleep. If you fall asleep, you will die.

6. In winter, use tires with spikes on your car. This improves grip.
